Got there again last night

I must say that it so hard to get motivated to get to the gym these days.  If you are like me you will be finding it just soooooo hard to get to the gym in the first place let alone smashing ourselves once we get there.

I have good reasons to get fit – I seem to have developed chronic asthma caused by smoking for so many years (dumb ass) anyway did.  I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed otherwise I wouldn’t need to get fit I would already be fit.  Earlier in the blog I mentioned that at one stage I was diagnosed with 48% lung capacity.  I discovered that at the gym – One day I got puffed out, but it was different…….. Anyway that is a whole story in itself.  Man that was a motivator – I had two choices stay at home and feel sorry for myself or hit the gym every day and hit the cross trainer and the treadmill.  To work on increasing my lung capacity and I did this for a solid 12months up to six times a week – I didn’t have a sport or anything that I did, just the gym. The result at the end of that 74% lung capacity fan-bloody-tastic – I am a happy man.

You see both my Father and Brother died from emphysema caused by smoking – NOW THAT IS A MOTIVATOR.

I started to go to classes after this and smashed it at Pump class one or two times a week. Step class – very cardio style once a week every Saturday.  Circuit training twice a week and smashed it…..  did all this for about a year.  All good looked forward to going the next time.  Not a 100% sure what happened but, one day I just stopped. This occured around October last year 2013.  I had started windsurfing which is another blog learning curve, which I was only doing once or twice a week.

Now it is the windsurfing that is motivating me to get fitter which it on its own is not enough to get my fitness up – it is a workout for sure but I need more – I am getting better at the sport very slowly (man it is a hard sport to learn) the problem is I am running out of steam before I want to stop.  Have to hit the gym and get fit again

So made it again to the gym last night on the way home from work did it tough on the Cross trainer and Treadmill.  20mins on the Cross Trainer at 75 to 85 whatevers and then to the Treadmill for twenty five minutes including cool down cycle, at 6 for most of the time with three times 2 minutes at 10 and that was really hard but pushed myself to get there.  Pat myself on the back good man….

Update: That was Tuesday night – guess what got there again last night Thursday 11th did nearly the same not so much time on the treadmill. Pretty similar times to Tuesday evening, I completed 2 lots of 2 minutes @ 10 speed and 1 lot of incline @ 14 for 2 minutes at 6 speed – not bad considering that 3 years ago I couldn’t do 20secs at 80 on the cross trainer.  Proud of myself for getting to the gym twice in one week. Need to get that up to 4 to 5 times, come on Morgs you can do it mate.  I guess I should be having a look at some weights, machines, lunges, squats etc. to get the best out of it.

It is endurance mainly that I am looking for here – to last looonger….. (mind out of the gutter lol) ……when windsurfing and it would be alright to loose some of the belly too lol. Don’t tell anyone but I am feeling better for it.

Update 17/07/2014: There you go Thursday again and haven’t been to the gym – this week I have a reasonable excuse I am a bit crook, not well – sore throat …. really sore throat – need to be eating lots of Ice Cream lol.  Will go to work today and Doctors this afternoon.  You see it is winter here and bloody cold down to 3 degrees in the mornings.  We not real smart here in Queensland as it is sub tropical no central heating so for the couple of months of winter we freeze our brass monkeys off.

Enough of belly aching about the cold.  As far as excercise is concerned I did get out on the board on the weekend for a few hours – was a workout and a half.

Have a nice day
